The Ladies Journal

In 1996, my Grandmother Turnock gave me a Ladies Journal. This brought forth a great deal of entertainment as family members and friends made entries regarding Christmas and New Years. Note: The Christmas Entries were more coherent than the New Year entries due to blood alcohol levels. Later in 1997, it was taken to various parties for more entries. Here are excerpts:

 Christmas 1996
Journal entries made by me, my sister, my grandmother, my cousins and my friends on Christmas Day 1996.

 Vicky Visits The Dentist (JPG)
In early January of 1997, I had an appointment to get my impacted wisdom teeth surgically removed. This brought forth a great deal of anxiety-- mostly the idea of anesthesia and the fact that it *GASP* might make me nauceous. In attempt to ease my nerves, the night before my surgery, my friend Aaron Evans drew his rendition of the next day's events.

 New Years 1999
Excerpts of entries made on December 31, 1998 (skipped over illegible entries and entries of people I never knew). This was the last of the big Sawyer New Year Parties.

 New Years 1999 In Review
A series of cartoons by Aaron Evans that summarizes the Sawyer New Years Party that welcomed in 1999. This file is in PDF format and will require Adobe Acrobat reader.

 New Years 2000
We spent this New Years at home in front of the TV in Blacksburg. We had good cause-- early the next morning we were leaving to drive to New Orleans.

 New Years 2001
This was another uneventful New Years. Sean and I were both ill with some vicious congestion. I remember waking up at 11:30 PM and having to really convince myself to stay up until midnight. Earlier in the evening, I did have time to make my annual recap.

 New Years 2002
This New Years was spent in downtown Jacksonville, Florida. Sean and I got a wonderful table right on the waterfront and had a great view of fireworks show.
