Savannah Photos

In March of 1998, my boyfriend, Sean, my friend, Ryan Schutt, and I went to Savannah, Georgia for a couple of days. We were visiting Sean's brother, Cory, who attends the Savannah College of Art and Design. Below are some pictures I took with our then new digital camera. I was really captivated by the beauty of the city. Most of these photographs speak for themselves.

Savannah permits open alcoholic beverages on its streets! We had to revel in the novelty of that. Above is Sean drinking out of a "To Go" cup. Ryan Schutt loiters with him.

There was an establishment called "Southern Exposure" in our neck of the woods. It was significantly less reputable than this quaint little antique store (which also carried Beanie Babies-- see below).

The above photograph shows a little bit of the aesthetic Spanish Moss that added to the introspective atmoshere of Savannah. Sean's brother, Cory, showed us around the city. At one point we were walking single file down a thin sidewalk. "Oh yeah and guys," Cory warned, "Don't pick up any of the Spanish Moss, it has chiggers in it." I heard a very faint and very deperate "Doh!" I turned around and there was Ryan Schutt with two handfuls of souvenir moss.

One thing that surprised us about Savannah was the abnormally large amount of Beanie Babies. There were these gorgeous stores on the water front that carried antiques from the civil war AND Beanie Babies. Invariably, each store had a colorful sign in their windows proudly exclaiming, "We Have Beanie Babies." We purchased two as props for a video. Here they are saying goodbye to Savannah as we begin the long trek home.
