My Work Area

A co-worker of mine took this picture. At first glance my workarea appears to be nothing but a clutter. However, looking at the details of the pictures there are a lot of little things that have a tale.

1
This is my internal auditor training certificate. I've completed training for the ISO 9000 Quality Standard (2000 version).

2
We keep metrics on our monthly support incidents. This is one of those charts.

3
A stuffed frog. One of my co-worker's mother made it.

4
An email from a friend saying I was right. He used to make fun of the way I pronounced GIF. The subject of the email is "I thought you were crazy". The content says "GIF Image format. Correctly pronounced as "JIF".

5
A drawing my boyfriend did comparing the UVA logo to Mr. Yuk.

6
We have cat named Stench. One day he had a vet appointment and I wanted to make sure I could find him before his appointment. So I put signs on the inside and outside of the front door to make sure my roommates wouldn't let him out. It wasn't until later that I realized when the sign was taken out of context that it would sound a little weird. It hangs near the entry way of my boss's desk now.

7
My monthly goals

8
One of our customers is Space Imaging. For Christmas they sent us these cool calendars full of satellite photos.

9
My phone. If you look closely you'll see my name on both the base and handset. Those labels are leftover from one of our moves.

10
Source code to the software I work on-- QualTrax.

11
A wind-up frog toy my friend Mandy gave me. When you open it up, it automatically winds up three frogs inside. They move around and look cute.

12
A Virginia Tech colored football from a local bar. It says "GO TECH" on one side and "Sharkey's Grille" on the other.

13
Statements from my mutual funds. I've been contributing to them regularly since 1997.

14
My green Dr. Grip Neon Gel Writer. I currently have three Dr. Grip Gel Writers and one Dr. Grip mechanical pencil. They are my writing utensils of choice.

15
One of my favorite things to do with my Dr. Grip is doodle. There is some of my handiwork.

16
I'm playing in two fantasy basketball leagues. This piece of paper lists the different activities and their point value in one of the leagues.

17
A picture of one of our ferrets, Rugrat. She passed away in December, just a week after I took that picture of her in a Christmas stocking.

18
My headphones. They have a very long wire which is nice because I can roll to other desk without interruption to my music. However, the wire tends to get really tangled on my chair.

19
The sweater I'm wearing originally was Chris Stuard's. After I borrowed it for many years he let me have it.

20
When I go running with my dogs, I always take along a plastic bag and some folded paper towels to clean up any waste they leave. This particular day, I had left unused paper towels in my jacket pocket. When I got to work, I took them out and placed them on my desk.

21
Snuck way back there is a picture of my dog, Jimmie. The frame is a frog frame given to me by my friend Mandy many Christmases ago.

22
My QualTrax jacket. Every team member got one at the end of 1999 when we led CCS in profits.

23
It wasn't pictured in the original photo, but my engagement ring was there. It originally belonged to Sean's maternal grandmother.
