Robert H. Baker, Jr.
Robert Henry Baker, Jr. (Pop) was born on November 17, 1911 and grew up in the house his father had built on Center Avenue in Mooresville. He graduated from Mooresville (Central) High School in 1929 and from Davidson College in 1933. On September 24, 1938 he married Doris Mae Jones (Mom) in Goldsboro, North Carolina who he met while she was teaching second grade in Kannapolis, North Carolina. Doris, called Dot, was born on Decmber 27, 1911 and graduated from Goldsboro High School in 1929 and East Carolina Teachers College (ECU) in 1933. Bob, after graduating from college, worked at Mooresville Mills which later became part of Burlington Industries and retired from CIBA-GEIGY in 1976. He was both an elder and deacon at the First Presbyterian Church of Mooresville. He and Dot live in the house tehy built in 1949 on Cedar Street in Mooresville, North Carolina where they reared four children.
