The resilence of trees always amaze me. The Andy Layne Trail passes by a layered rock cliff. Despite the steep angle and the inhospital terrain, a number of trees still make the cliff their home. |

Between ten and eleven miles into our hike, we ran across this stunning view of Carvin's Cove. Contrast this shot with the Carvin's Cove View picture taken March of 2005 from the same spot. What a difference a few weeks makes with the trees! |

These purple flowers were frequently poking up along the side of the Appalachian Trail. I like how they look sort of... iris-like. I don't know what kind of flowers they are (if anyone can identify it, let me know) |
